Web Design in Folkestone, a Town Being Rebuilt On Purpose
Folkestone's regeneration was planned and paid for rather than accidental, and it shows. We build sites for the businesses arriving because of it. Fixed prices from £800, live in two to four weeks.
Local Knowledge
Why Folkestone businesses need more than a template
Folkestone is unusual because its revival was deliberate. Sustained private investment created the Creative Quarter, restored the Harbour Arm, built F51 and funded the Triennial. That is a very different story to Margate, where change arrived more organically, and it means the town has been actively recruiting the businesses now trading here.
It also has an economy nowhere else in Kent has. The Channel Tunnel terminal at Cheriton sits on the edge of town, bringing freight, logistics, engineering and a steady flow of cross-Channel traffic. Those businesses sell to hauliers and operators, not to visitors, and they need a completely different kind of website.
Then there is the commuter layer. Fifty three minutes to St Pancras on the high speed line has drawn people who work in London and hold London expectations, particularly around food, retail and services. For businesses selling to that group a dated website is noticed immediately, and it quietly costs you their trade.
The result is three markets that barely overlap: the creative and visitor economy around the Old High Street and the harbour, the freight and engineering economy out at Cheriton, and the ordinary town economy along Sandgate Road serving residents. Building for the wrong one is the most common mistake here.
What tends to work here
- Naming Sandgate, Cheriton and Hawkinge
- Capability and credentials for freight buyers
- Photography that suits a design-led town
- Seasonal hours for visitor businesses
- Fast mobile pages, commuters check on trains
- Reviews shown, expectations are high here
Why Folkestone runs three economies at once
The Folkestone businesses we build for
Three economies that barely overlap. These are the three we work with most across Folkestone.
Creative Quarter & visitor trade
Studios, galleries, independent shops and food businesses in the Creative Quarter and along the Harbour Arm. Judged against London by people who moved from there, so presentation is doing real commercial work.
Freight, logistics & engineering
Freight, logistics, engineering and vehicle services around Cheriton and the tunnel terminal. Selling to operators and hauliers who want capability, compliance and contact details, not design flourishes.
Town centre & resident services
Shops, trades and professional services along Sandgate Road and through Cheriton serving residents. Steady, year-round work that sees very little of either the visitor money or the freight money at all.
What We See
Four problems we keep finding on Folkestone websites
Built for the wrong Folkestone
A Creative Quarter aesthetic is wasted on a haulage firm at Cheriton, and a plain functional site loses a gallery its visitor trade. These are genuinely different jobs and need to be treated that way.
No credentials for freight buyers
Freight and engineering businesses with no certifications, accreditations or evidence of capability on the site. Operators are checking whether you can actually handle the work before they ever call.
Frozen before the regeneration
Sites that were perfectly fine before the regeneration and have not moved since. Folkestone's expectations have risen sharply in ten years, and a site from 2016 now stands out for the wrong reasons.
Ignoring the surrounding areas
Sites that say Folkestone and stop there miss Sandgate, Cheriton, Hythe and Hawkinge. Those are separate searches, and for trades covering the district, naming them is close to free.

What we build for Folkestone businesses
Three services, shaped around a town with a deliberate creative revival, a freight economy and London commuters, all at once.
Web Design
A site built for whichever Folkestone is actually yours, whether that is visitors, hauliers or residents. Branding is available inside the build where you need it: branding that suits a town where design standards rose sharply and quickly over the last decade.

Real reviews from real clients
I had an excellent experience working with WebOws Design. They designed my website and it honestly exceeded all of my expectations. From the very beginning, communication was clear, Replies were always incredibly quick, and any changes or requests I had were handled promptly without any hassle. The attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to make sure everything was exactly how I wanted really stood out. I highly recommend WebOws Design.
Fantastic service by Owen and the team, we had used another company before who let us down and the site performed worse than before so we ended up editing and managing the site in house. We came across Owen and team around 6 weeks ago who completely re-designed our site and made it look amazing. Cost wise, very very good. Build time was quick and we are over the moon with the result. Would recommend Owen and the team to anyone looking for a website re-design or build. Outstanding service from start to finish.
I couldn't recommend Owen and the team highly enough. From start to finish, the communication has been exceptional. Whether it was phone calls, messages or meeting face to face, they were always available, approachable and happy to help. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and they really listened to my ideas and brought them to life. They made the whole process enjoyable and collaborative. They were patient, responsive. I love the finished website and couldn't be happier, thankyou :)
WebOws delivered a sharp, high impact redesign of the Social Football Australia website. Speed was a standout from day one: fast turnaround at every stage, changes implemented quickly, no delays, no chasing. Communication was just as strong, led by Owen: clear, direct updates throughout, quick responses to questions, no confusion around timelines or scope. The final result is clean, professional, and built to convert. I would highly recommend Owen & his team.
Owen was on hand throughout the entire build time, no matter the hour. I felt heard and understood throughout the build, and no question felt to silly to ask. Owen explained where they were at with the build throughout the process and I cant wait to get going on the live site!
WebOws Design created a professional and clean booking website for my massage and spa business. The quality of work was excellent, and they understood my vision perfectly. Communication was clear and efficient, and they were always responsive. What impressed me most was the speed, my booking platform was built in just one week. The final result is modern, easy to use, and very client-friendly. Highly recommended.
Can't praise Owen highly enough - he was quick, communicative and solved the problem I was having with my website perfectly. He also taught me how to solve the problem myself in the future! Will definitely use WebOws again.

Questions
Folkestone web design questions
Yes. We're in Gillingham, around an hour down the M20, and east Kent is a growing part of our work. Most of the process runs remotely and we'll come over when meeting in person genuinely helps.
Almost everything. The site becomes a credentials document rather than a shop window. Accreditations, capacity, turnaround times and a direct phone number matter far more than how it looks.
Yes, along with Hythe, Lyminge and the villages up on the downs. If you serve them your site should name each one rather than assuming Folkestone covers it.
From £800, with a fixed quote agreed before any work starts. No hourly billing and nothing on the invoice you have not already seen and approved.
In the Creative Quarter, close to it. Elsewhere in town there is far less competition online, which means the basics done properly still put you ahead of most of the field.
It can, and often should. What still needs to be ordinary is the part people buy through: somewhere obvious for prices, opening times and getting hold of you. Character in the design, predictability in the plumbing.
The site earns its keep in the quiet months, because that is when it is the only thing working. Most seasonal businesses we deal with get more from the pages about what they do and where they are than from anything published in August.
