SEO in Dartford,
where Google can't
decide if you're London.
Dartford sits on the edge of two markets, and its search results show it. Local SEO that makes you the obviously local answer. From £300, with Foundation SEO free on every site I build.

Why Dartford is different
Four things that decide a Dartford search
Not general SEO advice with a town name dropped in. These four behave differently here, and each one changes what I would do first.
Google half-treats Dartford as London
The Crossing and the A2 put central London inside forty minutes, and Google's local results reflect that. Search anything commercial in Dartford and the results blend in Bexleyheath, Crayford, Greenhithe and a tail of south east London agencies competing on budgets a Kent business is not going to match. That changes the job: winning here is rarely about outspending London, it is about being unambiguously, specifically local in a way a Bromley firm covering "the South East" never is.
Everyone is new, which cuts both ways
Dartford has the highest business birth rate in Kent and the county's worst five-year survival rate at 30.1 percent. In search terms that means your competitors mostly have what you have: a young Google Business Profile, a handful of reviews and no citation history. Local SEO is unusually winnable here, because almost nobody in the market has built a twenty-year authority moat. The flip side is that it decays fast if you stop.
Bluewater absorbs the retail searches
Bluewater sits inside the borough and takes both the footfall and a large share of the retail search demand that would otherwise go to a town centre. If you sell to consumers in Dartford, a meaningful slice of the obvious keywords are effectively spoken for, and chasing them is money burnt. The workable demand is in service, trade and B2B searches, and in the specific product and problem phrases Bluewater's own pages do not answer.
Your customers search a place name, not a postcode
Ebbsfleet, Stone, Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Wilmington and Bean are all DA postcodes and all searched as their own place. Ebbsfleet in particular is a name that barely existed commercially fifteen years ago and now has thousands of residents searching it directly. A site that only ever says Dartford is invisible a mile up the road, and naming those places properly is one of the cheapest wins available here.
The work
What I actually do, in order
Roughly this sequence, because each step is worth more once the one above it is done.
01
Google Business Profile first
For nearly every Dartford search worth having, the map pack sits above the ordinary results and takes most of the clicks. So the profile comes first: correct primary category, service areas covering the DA postcodes you actually work in, real photographs, opening hours that match reality, and a review habit you can keep up. If your profile is the weak link I will say so before selling you anything else, because fixing it is free and it moves faster than the website will.
02
Pages that name the places
One page saying Dartford does not rank in Ebbsfleet, Greenhithe or Stone. Depending on what you sell that means either a properly written area section or separate pages that genuinely differ, never the same paragraph with the town swapped, which Google has treated as a doorway pattern for years and discounts accordingly.
03
Consistent details everywhere you appear
Name, address and phone number identical across your site, your Google profile, Companies House, directories and any trade body listing. It is dull, it is the part most people skip, and in a town where everyone is new it is one of the few signals that separates an established business from one that launched last month.
04
Schema so the details are machine readable
LocalBusiness and Service markup, breadcrumbs, and the entity links between them. This is the Advanced tier's structural work, and it is what puts your opening hours, area served and reviews somewhere an AI answer or a rich result can actually read them rather than leaving them as text on a page.
05
Reporting you can check yourself
Search Console positions and impressions for the Dartford terms specifically, not a traffic-light dashboard. If a term moves you see it, and if a term does not move I would rather tell you it is not working than bury it under a chart.

Questions
Dartford SEO questions
How much does SEO cost in Dartford?+
The same as anywhere else I work, because the price follows the job and not the postcode. Foundation SEO is included free with every website I build. WebOws Advanced, the structural schema and breadcrumb work, is a one-off from £300. WebOws Performance, full AEO and GEO visibility, is priced on application and only available with a headless build.
Are you actually based in Dartford?+
No, and I would rather say so plainly. My studio is in Gillingham, about thirty minutes along the A2, and I have worked across north west Kent for years. Most of the work runs remotely and I will come to you when it is genuinely useful rather than as a sales visit. If being able to walk into your supplier's office matters more to you than the work itself, a Dartford-based firm is the honest answer.
How long before I see results?+
Realistically three to six months for competitive Dartford terms, sometimes faster for the map pack if your Google Business Profile has been neglected, because that can move in weeks. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either targeting terms nobody searches or is about to do something you will have to undo later.
Can you get me above the London agencies?+
On genuinely local searches, often yes, because a London agency covering "Kent and the South East" is competing against your specificity with their budget, and for local intent Google frequently prefers the specific one. On broad national terms, no, and I will not take your money pretending otherwise.
Do you cover Ebbsfleet, Greenhithe and Stone?+
Yes, and Swanscombe, Wilmington and Bean. If you serve those areas your site and your Google profile should name them individually rather than hoping Dartford covers it, and that is usually one of the first things I change.
I need a website too, not just SEO.+
Then start with the website, because Foundation SEO comes with it at no extra cost and there is little sense optimising a site you are about to replace. My Dartford web design page covers what a build costs and what is included.
