Wix SEO

SEO That Understands How Wix Actually Works

Most SEO agencies treat every platform the same. Wix has its own quirks, tools and limitations, and we work with them daily, not occasionally.

What's Included

SEO Built for Wix's Constraints

Wix Technical SEO

Fixing the platform-specific issues generic SEO agencies miss: URL structure, Wix's SEO settings panel, canonical handling, and how Wix renders content for Google.

Wix Schema & Structured Data

Implementing JSON-LD schema correctly within Wix's Custom Code and CMS structure, not just installing a generic SEO app and hoping.

Wix CMS & Collections SEO

Structuring dynamic pages (locations, blog, products) built on Wix's CMS so they're genuinely crawlable and indexable, not just published.

Migration SEO

Protecting your rankings when moving onto or off Wix: redirects, sitemap handoffs, and indexing continuity.

How We Work

A proven process, every time

1

Audit & Research

We start with a detailed audit of your site and competitors to understand exactly what's holding your rankings back.

2

SEO Strategy

We build a custom SEO strategy around your business goals, not a generic checklist.

3

Implementation

We make the changes, on-page, technical and content, and keep refining as we go.

4

Tracking & Growth

We monitor what's working, report back clearly, and adjust the strategy based on real data.

Why generic SEO advice doesn't work on Wix

Most SEO guidance online is written for WordPress. Wix handles URLs, redirects, sitemaps and page rendering differently, and following WordPress-style advice on a Wix site often does nothing, or actively causes problems. We work inside Wix's actual constraints and capabilities, not a generic checklist.

What we actually fix

Duplicate or missing meta descriptions across dynamic pages, orphaned schema left over from Wix's own auto-generated tags, sitemap submission and indexing issues specific to Wix's page structure, and site speed problems caused by unoptimised Wix media and third-party embeds.

Who It's For

Who Wix SEO is for

This service exists for a specific situation. If it is not yours, one of our other services will fit better.

This is for you if

  • Your site is on Wix or Wix Studio and is not appearing where you would expect
  • You have been told, usually by someone who sells WordPress, that Wix cannot rank
  • You have CMS-driven pages that are not being indexed or are competing with each other
  • You migrated to Wix and traffic dropped afterwards
  • You want SEO from people who know the platform rather than generic advice adapted to it

Look elsewhere on our site if

  • Your site is not on Wix, our general SEO service covers every other platform
  • The site itself is fundamentally broken, Wix Rescue deals with that before SEO is worth doing
  • You need a new site rather than optimisation of the current one

Not sure which applies? An audit tells you, and if it turns out the site needs rebuilding rather than optimising we will say so rather than charging you monthly to polish something structurally unsound.

What It Costs

What Wix SEO costs

A Wix SEO audit with the fixes applied starts at £550. Ongoing monthly Wix SEO starts at £550 a month, set by how competitive your market is.

The audit is Wix-specific rather than a generic checklist run against a Wix site. We check the things that behave differently here: how the site handles indexing, whether CMS collection pages are generating proper titles and descriptions, whether structured data has been added correctly or is duplicating what Wix already outputs, and how the media library is affecting your Core Web Vitals.

That distinction matters because most SEO advice online is written for WordPress. Applied to Wix it ranges from irrelevant to actively harmful, and we regularly clean up after well-meaning work that assumed plugins and file access that do not exist here. Knowing which of Wix's defaults to leave alone is as valuable as knowing which to change.

Ongoing work covers the same ground as our general SEO service, delivered by people who do not have to learn the platform first. If your site is on Wix and you have been told it cannot rank, that is the myth we spend most of our time disproving.

One practical note on budgeting. If your site was migrated to Wix from another platform and traffic fell afterwards, the cause is usually redirects rather than the platform, and it is often fixable in a single piece of work rather than an ongoing arrangement. We check that first, because if a one-off fix recovers your rankings there is no honest reason to sell you a monthly retainer instead.

How Long It Takes

How quickly Wix SEO shows results

Technical fixes can register within two to four weeks. Ranking movement on commercial terms usually takes three to six months, the same as any platform.

Weeks one to two: technical audit

Indexing, canonical handling, CMS page templates, structured data, media weight and the Wix-specific settings that are routinely left on their defaults.

Weeks two to four: fixes applied

We implement rather than hand you a list. Titles, descriptions, heading structure, schema, image optimisation and internal linking across the site.

Months two to four: content and local

Content built around real search demand, location pages with genuinely local material, and Google Business Profile work for businesses serving a defined area.

Months four to six: measurement

By this point there is enough data to see what is working and to reallocate effort towards the pages and terms actually producing enquiries.

The Decision

Wix SEO tools or custom code?

A recurring question on Wix projects: use what the platform provides, or add your own. Usually the answer is both.

Wix's built-in SEO tools Custom code and schema
Covers Titles, descriptions, canonicals, redirects, sitemap, robots Advanced structured data, edge cases, bespoke output
Skill needed Low, designed for site owners Comfortable with JSON-LD and the platform's limits
Risk Low, hard to break anything Duplicate or malformed schema can do real harm
CMS pages Dynamic patterns pulled from collection fields Needed when the pattern cannot express what you want
Maintenance Survives platform updates Needs checking after major republishes
Best used for The 80% that matters most The remaining 20% where it genuinely differentiates

Start with Wix's own tools and use them properly, because most sites are not doing so and that alone closes much of the gap. Add custom code where there is a real gap, most often richer structured data. One warning worth taking seriously: custom code blocks can be lost on republish, so they need checking after any significant change.

Common Mistakes

Wix SEO mistakes and myths

Some of these are errors, some are received wisdom that was never true. Both cost businesses rankings.

  1. Believing Wix sites cannot rank

This is repeated constantly, usually by people who sell a competing platform. It has not been true for years, and we have Wix sites ranking on page one for competitive commercial terms. Believing it stops businesses doing the work that would actually help.

What to do instead: Judge the site, not the platform. Google ranks pages on content, structure, speed and authority. Wix is capable on all four when it is built and configured properly.

  2. Applying WordPress advice to a Wix site

Most SEO guidance assumes plugins, file-level access and server configuration that Wix does not expose. Following it leads to either wasted effort or duplicated output, particularly with structured data added on top of what Wix already generates.

What to do instead: Use Wix's own SEO tools first, which are more capable than their reputation, and add custom code only where there is a genuine gap. Check for duplication before adding schema.

  3. Letting CMS pages generate themselves

Wix will happily produce hundreds of collection pages sharing one title pattern and one description. That is duplicate content at scale, and it dilutes the pages you actually want ranking.

What to do instead: Set up dynamic titles and descriptions that pull genuinely different fields per item, and make sure each page has enough unique content to justify existing at all.

  4. Ignoring the media library's weight

Wix serves images well, but it cannot undo a library full of enormous uploads. Slow-loading pages fail Core Web Vitals, and on mobile that shows up in both rankings and how many visitors stay.

What to do instead: Audit the media library, resize the worst offenders, and replace anything oversized. On image-heavy Wix sites this is frequently the single highest-impact technical change available.

After Launch

Reporting and what you keep

You get a monthly plain-English report, and your Search Console and Analytics stay in your own accounts throughout.

Reports lead with enquiries, then rankings and traffic as the supporting detail. If rankings improved but the phone did not ring, we say so and investigate why, because a report designed to look reassuring is worth nothing to you.

Everything we set up stays in your name: Search Console, Analytics, Google Business Profile, and the Wix account itself. We work as a collaborator on your accounts, never the owner of them. If you stop working with us, nothing needs transferring and no history is lost.

We also document what we changed and where, which matters more on Wix than most platforms because custom code blocks can be dropped during a republish. If something disappears later, you have a record of what should be there.

FAQs

Wix SEO FAQs

Yes, meaningfully. Wix handles technical SEO, redirects, and page rendering differently to WordPress or Squarespace, and generic SEO advice often doesn't apply directly.

Yes, this is one of our most common jobs. We regularly inherit and fix Wix sites built or optimised elsewhere.

Both. We use Wix's native SEO settings where they're the right tool, and add custom code and schema where Wix's defaults fall short.

Yes. Generative Engine Optimisation, getting referenced by AI tools like ChatGPT, works within Wix's structure the same way, and we build it into every Wix SEO project.

Not if it's migrated properly. Redirects, schema, and sitemap handoff need to be done correctly, which is exactly what we manage during a migration.

SEO Tiers

Three SEO tiers, and what each one buys

Foundation ships with every website we build. Advanced and Performance are the tiers you add on top.

WebOws Foundation

Included with every build

The basics done properly, on every project we ship.

What you get

  • Page titles and meta descriptions written for search
  • Alt text on every image
  • Correct heading structure from H1 down
  • A clean sitemap, generated and submitted
  • Indexing requested at launch

No website should leave us invisible, so every project ships with the basics done properly: page titles and meta descriptions written for search rather than filled in as an afterthought, alt text on every image, correct heading structure from H1 down, a clean sitemap generated and submitted, and indexing requested at launch. Most agencies charge for this. We consider it part of building a website correctly. Not sold separately, because it should never be optional.

WebOws Advanced

From £300

The structural work that earns rich results.

What you get

  • Everything in Foundation
  • Hand written JSON-LD schema for your business and services
  • Breadcrumb markup across the site
  • Validation, so it all actually parses
  • A written record of what was added and why
  • Available on any build, or on an existing Wix site we did not build

Everything in Foundation, plus the structural work that earns rich results: hand written JSON-LD schema for your business and services, breadcrumb markup across the site, and validation so it all actually parses. Delivered as a one off implementation with a written record of what was added and why. The right tier for a local business competing for map results and richer search listings. Available on any build, or for existing Wix sites we did not build.

WebOws Performance

Price on application

The visibility work search is moving towards.

What you get

  • Everything in Foundation and Advanced
  • AEO structure, so your business is cited in AI generated answers
  • GEO signals for the areas that matter to you
  • Entity markup connecting your business, people and services
  • Ongoing measurement
  • Requires a WebOws Performance build on the headless route

Everything in Foundation and Advanced, plus the visibility work search is moving towards: AEO structure so your business is cited in AI generated answers, GEO signals for the areas that matter to you, entity markup connecting your business, people and services, and ongoing measurement. This is the approach we built our own site on, and it is available exclusively with a WebOws Performance build on the headless route, because it depends on the technical control that architecture provides. That means you would not edit the site by dragging blocks around in Wix: content is managed through structured tools we set up for you. It is a real trade, and for the businesses this tier suits it is worth it. Price on application, scoped with the build.

Foundation comes free with every package on the web design page, and Performance SEO is available only with a WebOws Performance build on the headless route, because it depends on that architecture. Build a combined starting price.

Build Packages

The builds these tiers sit on

Foundation is included with each of these. Performance SEO needs a Performance build on the headless route.

WebOws Editor

From £800

A straightforward service or brochure site, built on Wix Editor and live quickly.

What you get

  • Custom design, no templates
  • Built entirely with Wix native features
  • Fully editable by you after launch
  • Wix App Market apps added where needed, priced on top
  • WebOws Foundation SEO included
  • Fixed quote agreed before work begins

Custom design, no templates, built entirely with Wix native features so you can edit every part of it yourself after launch. No custom code or custom solutions on this package: where the site needs more than native, apps from the Wix App Market can be added and are priced accordingly, with any monthly app fees billed to you directly by the app provider. Anything an app cannot do is a WebOws Performance conversation. WebOws Foundation SEO included.

Honest trade-offs

Editor gives you two layouts, desktop and mobile, rather than true responsive design, so the site adapts to screen sizes rather than being designed for each one. Page speed is good but not class-leading. For a five to eight page service business, neither matters and paying more would be waste.

Pricing

Service or brochure site from £800. Bookings or ecommerce from £1,000.

Best for

Service businesses, new businesses, tight timelines, owners who want to manage their own site.

WebOws Studio

From £1,000

Our default recommendation: fully responsive design on Wix Studio, built for every screen size.

What you get

  • Everything in Editor's approach, at a higher design standard
  • Fully responsive design with custom breakpoints
  • Faster loading and far finer design control
  • Still fully editable by you after launch
  • Wix App Market apps added where needed, priced on top
  • WebOws Foundation SEO included

Everything in Editor's approach at a higher design standard, still built entirely with Wix native features and still fully editable by you after launch. As with Editor, no custom code or custom solutions: Wix App Market apps are added where needed and priced accordingly, with monthly app fees billed to you directly by the provider, and anything an app cannot do is a WebOws Performance conversation. WebOws Foundation SEO included.

Honest trade-offs

It costs more because the design work is genuinely deeper, and for a very simple site it can be more platform than the job needs, in which case we will say so and recommend Editor.

Pricing

Service or brochure site from £1,000. Bookings or ecommerce from £1,300.

Best for

Businesses competing for search traffic, ecommerce and bookings, brands where design quality is part of the pitch.

WebOws Performance

Price on application

Our custom tier, for businesses where the website is core infrastructure.

What you get

  • Custom code and custom functionality the standard packages exclude
  • Two delivery routes, headless or Studio with custom solutions
  • Eligible for WebOws Performance SEO
  • Scoped individually, with a free conversation first

For businesses where native features plus apps are no longer enough. Delivered one of two ways depending on a single question: do you need to edit the site yourself?

Route one, headless

If you do not need hands-on editing

We keep Wix behind the scenes for content, bookings and store management, and build the public facing site the way our own site is built: a headless architecture where custom code delivers the pages for maximum speed. The fastest loading a website can realistically achieve, top Core Web Vitals, complete design freedom, and the strongest technical foundation for search and AI visibility. You will not edit this site the way you would an Editor or Studio site; content is managed through structured tools we set up for you.

Route two, Studio with custom solutions

If you want to keep editing the site yourself

We build on Wix Studio with the custom code and custom functionality the standard packages exclude. You keep the visual editing experience, and the site gains the bespoke features native tools cannot provide. Because building custom work that stays safely editable takes more engineering, this route is typically priced higher than the headless equivalent, and it cannot match headless on raw speed.

How we advise

We will tell you plainly which route fits before you commit, and honestly if a standard Studio build serves you better for less.

Pricing

On application, because these builds are scoped individually. The conversation is free.

Best for

SEO led businesses, larger catalogues, bespoke functionality, businesses that have outgrown native features and apps.
