What It Costs
What a Wix Rescue costs
Rescue work is quoted after a paid audit, because nobody can price a fix honestly before seeing what is wrong. The audit is £250 and comes off the cost of the work if you proceed.
We charge for the audit because it is real work: getting into the account, establishing what exists, finding out what was half-built and what was never started, and producing a written assessment of what it would take to put right. Quoting blind would mean either padding the price to cover the unknown or discovering problems later and asking you for more money. Neither is fair.
Once we know what we are dealing with, you get a fixed price. Sometimes it is a few hours of work because the site is fundamentally sound and someone simply walked away mid-project. Sometimes the honest answer is that rebuilding costs less than repairing, and we will tell you that even though the rebuild is the bigger job, because you can then decide with the facts in front of you.
If the audit shows the site is in better shape than you feared, that is a good outcome and we say so. We have told people their site needed two hours of work when they arrived expecting to commission a rebuild.
How Long It Takes
How quickly we can pick up a stalled site
The audit takes three to five working days from getting account access. Most rescue work is completed within one to three weeks of the quote being agreed.
Days one to two: access
Usually the hardest part, particularly when the previous developer is unresponsive. We will talk you through recovering ownership of a Wix account and domain if you no longer control them.
Days three to five: assessment
What is built, what is broken, what is missing, what is costing you money right now. You get it in writing, in plain English, with a fixed price attached.
Week one to two: urgent fixes
Anything actively harming the business goes first: a site that is down, forms not delivering enquiries, checkout failing, pages missing from Google.
Week two to three: finish the job
The remaining work to get the site to a state that is finished, maintainable and genuinely yours.
The Decision
Repair the site or rebuild it?
The question every rescue starts with. The audit answers it properly for your site, but here is the general shape.

As a rule of thumb, if repairing would cost more than about 60% of a rebuild, rebuild. You get a clean foundation and no inherited decisions for a modest difference in price. Below that, repair is usually the better value, and we will say which side yours falls on once we have looked.

The site was built in the designer's own account
If the Wix account and the domain belong to whoever built the site, you do not own your web presence. When they stop responding, you have no way in, and recovering it becomes a formal process with the platform rather than a conversation.
What to do instead: Insist the account and domain are registered in your name from day one, with the designer added as a collaborator. Any reputable designer works this way as standard.

Nobody checked the enquiry form after launch
Forms fail quietly. The notification address is wrong, or a change breaks the submission, and there is no error to see. Businesses routinely discover they have lost weeks of enquiries, which is the most expensive failure on this list.
What to do instead: Test the form yourself after launch and again after any significant change. Send a real submission and confirm it lands. It takes a minute and it is the highest-value minute you will spend on the site.

The project stopped at 90%
The site looks broadly finished, so payment gets made, then the last details never arrive: page titles, redirects from old URLs, the last responsive fixes. Those details are disproportionately the ones that affect search and conversion.
What to do instead: Agree what finished means in writing before you start, and hold a final payment until it is met. A short checklist prevents most of these disputes entirely.

Custom code disappeared during a republish
Custom code blocks on Wix, often the structured data that took real effort to write, can be lost when a site is republished. Nothing announces it. Rankings simply drift and nobody connects the two.
What to do instead: Keep a record of every custom code block and check it after any major change. We baseline these for clients so a regression is caught in days rather than months.
After Launch
Once your site is rescued
You get full ownership of the account and domain, documentation of what was wrong and what we changed, and 30 days of support.
The first thing we sort out, and often the most valuable, is ownership. Account in your name, domain in your name, billing under your control. Once that is done you cannot end up in this position again, whoever you work with next.
You also get a written record of what we found and what we did. Businesses arriving from a failed project usually have no documentation at all, which is part of why they are stuck. If you later work with someone else, they can pick it up in an afternoon instead of charging you to rediscover it.
After the 30 days of included support, there is no obligation to stay with us. Plenty of rescue clients go on to have us build them a new site, and plenty take the working site and manage it themselves. Both are fine. The point of the service is that you end up in control, not that you end up dependent on us instead.
