Why Medway Is Moving to Wix Studio

If you run a business in Gillingham, Rochester, Chatham, Strood or Rainham, you already know how crowded the local market is. Customers search before they ring. Ten years ago a decent looking website was enough to hold your end up. It is not any more.

A site that looks fine but that Google cannot read properly is a billboard in a field. It needs to do two things: load quickly, and be structured so search engines understand what you do and where you do it.

SEO in the foundations, not bolted on later

Most sites get SEO added at the end, if at all. I build it in from the start: heading structure Google can follow, page titles and meta descriptions written rather than auto generated, and schema markup that tells search engines what kind of business this is and which areas it serves. Speed, and why it is a ranking factor and not a nicety

Most local searches happen on a phone, often on a patchy connection. If your site takes four seconds to become useful, a good share of visitors have gone before they reach your phone number.

Google measures this directly through Core Web Vitals, so slow sites rank lower as well as converting worse. Studio gives proper control over image handling, breakpoints and what loads when, which is where the difference is made. A template cannot do that for you because it does not know which parts of your page matter.

A site that looks like your business

Templates are quick and they look it. Same layouts, same stock photography, same feel as several thousand other businesses.

Building around your own brand means your colours, type and imagery are consistent from your van to your invoice to your homepage. That consistency is what makes a business look established rather than new, and it matters at the exact moment someone is deciding whether to call you or the next result down. How long does a website take?

Four to eight weeks is typical. The usual hold up is not the build, it is waiting on copy and photographs.

Do I need a new logo as well?

Not necessarily. If your branding still works, I build around it. If it looks dated, doing both together produces a more coherent result than fixing one and then the other.

Will my site actually rank?

It will be built so it can. Rankings also depend on your Google Business Profile and your reviews, which is why I cover those too rather than pretending the website does everything.

Is Wix good enough for a serious business site?

Yes, built properly. The platform supports everything a small business needs. What it will not do is make the decisions for you, which is the whole job.
